Ethiopians, Guangul Highlight QC Marathon Women’s Field

MOLINE, IL - Hirut Guangul (Ethiopoia) headlines the women's field at the 2016 Quad Cities Marathon, presented by Triumph Community Bank. Guangul is looking to become the first runner, male or female, to record four overall titles at the event. The 26.2-mile race is scheduled for a 7:30-am start, Sept. 25th, at John Deere Commons.

In 2013, she defended her title with a 2:38:50, the fourth best finish time ever at QCM. She returned last fall to post a winning 2:39:10, the fifth best time ever. Guangul has had similar results at other marathons. She has three victories in 2016: Buffalo (2:38:24), Cleveland (2:40:33), and Vancouver (2:39:52).
